Drottningholms Slottsteater
The royal theatre, complete with historic museum and the occasional performance fit for a king.

Gustav III´s Museum of Antiquities
Sweden's oldest art museum, Gustav III's collection of art from his trip to Italy, 18th century.
The Museum of Antiquities of Gustav III is the oldest art museum in Sweden. King Gustav III was a devoted collector of antique art. The museum was recently renovated. Here you will find classical sculptures purchased by the king himself on his journeys to Italy in 1783-1784.

Gustav III´s Pavilion
The 18th century King's personal retreat. Beautifully furnished and whimsically eccentric. Classic.

Built in the 1780´s the Pavilion of Gustav III, Stockholm, was the retreat for king Gustav III when he wanted to be alone with his friends.The pavilion is an architectural masterpiece of the most famous architect of the period - Masreliez. The furnishings and decor are among the finest examples of late 18th century Swedish Gustavian style. Guided tours only at the Pavilion of Gustav III.

Hallwyl Collection
19th century private palace kept as the Countess von Hallwyl stipulated in her will. Absorbing and mysterious.

This private palace is a real treasure trove! See fabulous collections of antique furniture, paintings, silver, ceramics, jewellery, weapons and preserved interiors. A visit to the museum is like moving back more than a hundred years and entering a bygone time.

House of Nobility
Remarkable architectural achievement from the 17th century, commissioned by nobility, symbol of aristocracy.
The House of Nobility, Stockholm was commissioned in the 17th century by the Swedish nobility, to whom it still belongs. The building by Simon de Vallée remains one of the most exquisite works of architexture in northern Europe. The walls of the Session Hall is decorated with 2325 escutcheons of the Swedish aristocracy.

Prince Eugen's Waldemarsudde
Home of the artistic turn-of -the-century Prince, his own work blends with his collected art.

Prince Eugen´s Waldemarsudde Art Museum was the home of the artist-prince Eugen at the turn of the last century. See his large collections of Scandinavian art from 1880-1940. Most of his own works are exhibited here along with beautiful floral decorations. The museum has beautiful gardens at the waterfront.

Rosendal Palace
Currently a museum of Karl XIV Johan, who used it as a summer retreat in the 19th century for the family.
The Rosendal Palace, Stockholm, is a royal residence and an outstanding example of the Swedish interpretation of the French Empire style. The ornate interior have been virtually untouched since 1823. Furniture and textiles truly make the Rosendal Palace an outstanding example of the Swedish Empire style. Guided tours only.

Rosersbergs Palace
Beautiful gardens, fantastic scenery and the smell of royalty are all part of this palace's charm.
The Rosersberg Palace is a 17th century palace with well preserved interiors from 1795-1825. Stylistically, these interiors come midway between the neo-classical epoch and the empire period - the Palace interiors are often referred to as "Karl XIIIth Empire". Guided tours only.

Royal Armoury
History at it's best with palace vaults, state carriages, costumes with gold embroidery, armour and weapons.

The Royal Armoury, Stockholm, is beautifully situated in the vaults underneath the Royal Palace. Here you will find exhibitions of royal parade coaches, armours, weapons and coronation robes from the 1500s and onwards. See Gustav II Adolf´s horse from the Battle of Lützen (1632) and Gustav III´s costume from the fateful masquerade at the Opera in 1792.

The Royal Palace
The Hall of State, the Apartments of the Orders of Chivalry the Armoury and the changing of the guards etc.

With 608 rooms, the Stockholm Royal Palace is the biggest palace in the world still used by a head of state - King Carl XVI Gustav. The palace houses several of the greatest and most interesting sights in Stockholm - the Royal Apartments, the Hall of State, the Apartments of the Orders of Chivalry, the Treasury, the Tre Kronor Palace Museum, the Armoury and the Museum of Antiquities of Gustav III. The Changing of the Guards ceremony takes place Wednesdays and Saturdays at 12.15 and on Sundays and public holidays at 13.15.

The palace has been built on top of the foundations of a previous medieval castle - Tre Kronor (Three Crowns), dating back to the mid 13th century - which was ravaged by fire in 1697. The remnants of the old castle can be seen in the Tre Kronor Palace Museum. The construction of the new palace lasted for 57 years, from 1697 to 1754 and was the largest single construction project in Europe during this time. The Royal Apartments are magnificent, ranging in style from baroque to rococo to Gustavian neo-classisism and on to the eclectic styles of the 19th century.

The Royal Treasury
The Swedish state regalia are exhibited deep down in the vaults underneath the Royal Palace.

At the Royal Treasury Stockholm, the Swedish state regalia are exhibited deep down in the vaults underneath the Royal Palace. The palace can be found on the tiny island of Gamla Stan, now a literal explosion of history with historical sights down to the last pebble. The items in the vault are symbols of Swedish monarchy, and are still used for royal weddings, christenings and funerals. Here you can see priceless objects such as the sword of Gustav Vasa, and the crown, orb, sceptre and key of Erik XIV.

Ulriksdal Orangery Museum
Swedish sculpture displayed at beautiful Ulriksdal Castle. Stroll, contemplate and enjoy.
For some years now, the Orangery, a late 17th century building, has been a museum of Swedish sculpture att the Ulriksdal Castle. Carl Milles is one of the artists displayed there. Unfortuately it's not open regularly to the public, but on demand for groups, so book ahead.

Ulriksdal Palace
Take a tour to see the beautiful park and a mix of royal architecture and glas houses from the Gustavian era.

The Ulriksdal Palace, Stockholm, was built in 1644. Last it was in use was by King Gustav VI Adolf and Queen Louise between 1923 and 1973. Visit their apartments fully furnished with beautiful antiquities. Guided tours only! Visit also the Orangery, a late 17th century building, that for some years now has been a museum of Swedish sculpture. Don´t miss the Confidence, the 18th century court theatre situated in the park.
