ITINERARY:

Start your journey from the pier by driving towards the Upper Town, passing ancient walls and tower gateways, and disembark the coach upon arrival at the Tall Hermann Tower from which the Estonian national blue, black and white flag flies.

Walk up the Toompea Hill to the Palace Square, and view the baroque Toompea Castle, now the residence of the Estonian Parliament. Just opposite the palace stands the magnificent Russian Orthodox Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, a dominating feature of Upper Town's city skyline, and home to numerous golden icons and mosaics.

Your guide will then take you along Tallinn's medieval cobbled streets to view the gothic Dome Church, also known as St Mary's Cathedral. Proceed to the scenic viewpoint over the Lower Town rooftops, where there will be a short opportunity for shopping at the cozy small souvenir shops. Descend Short Leg Street to the Lower Town and view St. Nicholas Church.

St. Nicholaus church was first mentioned in 1315. Dedicated to St. Nicholas, patron saint of merchants and seafarers, the church was founded by the German merchants who had arrived in Tallinn from the Island of Gotland in 1230. One of the marvels and visitor attractions of the church is the famous Danse Macabre, painted by the Lübeck master Bernt Notke at the end of 15th century.

Our tour shall then continue on foot to the Town Hall Square. You will now be standing on the square that has always played an important part in the history of Tallinn, being the heart of the city, as well as a medieval market-place. Here you will also have a little free time for shopping before rejoining your coach waiting at Mere Boulevard.
