ITINERARY:

Depart from the pier for a scenic sightseeing drive passing Kadriorg Park to the Song Festival Ground, where the traditional Estonian Song Festivals are held. These festivals have been of a major importance and national pride, as well as a spiritual source for strength and endurance during the difficult years of suppression under the former Soviet Union. You’ be amazed of the huge size of the festival stage and auditorium, where tens of thousands of Estonians gathered from all over the world to join for the pleasure and satisfaction of singing.

Then our tour shall continue passing the Forest Cemetery, where distinguished Estonians are buried amidst the northern pine trees, further on to Pirita, the beachside location of the yachting complex built for the 1980 Olympic Games.

After a short drive we'll arrive at Tallinn's Old Town where the original ancient walls, towers, gates and ramparts can be seen far away. At the Tall Hermann Tower we'll walk a short distance up the Toompea Hill to the Palace Square. After reaching the peak we'll visit the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, which dominates the entire Tallinn city skyline. Inside the Cathedral there is a rich collection of gold icons and colorful mosaics.

Our tour shall then continue along Tallinn's picturesque medieval cobbled streets and visit the gothic Dome Church, also known as St. Mary's Cathedral. Inside the Cathedral there are more than 100 medieval coats of arms of different noble families on display. After the Cathedral we shall proceed to the scenic point spreading in front of our eyes the entire Lower Town and its rooftops, where there will also be an opportunity for souvenir shopping of something typically Estonian.

We'll start our descend along Short Leg Street to the Lower Town, where we shall enjoy a refreshment stop in a local coffee shop. After our brief rest, we’ll continue along Pikk Street, passing the Brotherhood of Blackheads, and visiting the Holy Ghost Church. After that we'll continue on foot to the Town Hall Square to view the Gothic Town Hall of Tallinn, and further on to the coach park at Mere Boulevard where there will be a second brief opportunity for shopping at the Arts and Crafts Market before boarding our transportation for the Return to the ship.
